Renewal Development Recognized at IPSS Showcase for Advancing Indigenous Reconciliation Through Housing
Renewal Development was honoured to receive the Champion for Indigenous Reconciliation Award at the Indigenous Partnerships Success Showcase (IPSS) on November 13th, 2025. This award recognizes our ongoing collaborations with the shíshálh Nation, Squamish Nation, and Sts’ailes Nations to deliver 27 units of good, cost-effective, climate-resilient housing to coastal communities in need.
The IPSS Showcase brings together Indigenous Nations, businesses, and allies from across Canada to celebrate partnerships grounded in respect, accountability, and measurable outcomes. This year’s recognition highlights the role of circular housing solutions in advancing reconciliation through action.
From Partnership to Impact
We are deeply honoured to receive the Champion for Indigenous Reconciliation Award, acknowledging our broader commitment to acting as an ally, bridge-builder, and long-term partner to First Nations.
Across these collaborations, Renewal works alongside First Nations and development partners to rescue high-quality homes slated for demolition, modernize them, and relocate them to communities with urgent housing and infrastructure needs. This results in housing that is faster to deliver, more affordable, and lower in embodied carbon than new construction.
Together with First Nation leadership and valued partners, these projects have:
Delivered 27 homes to Indigenous communities.
Diverted millions of kilograms of construction waste from landfill.
Preserved embodied carbon and craftsmanship.
Created employment, training, and capacity-building opportunities for Nation members.
Supported community-led housing strategies rooted in long-term resilience.
Recognition Made Possible Through Partnerships
This award reflects the leadership, courage, and vision of the First Nations we are privileged to work with. These outcomes are only possible through trust-based collaboration, Indigenous-led decision-making, and shared accountability from all partners involved.
We are grateful to the many organizations and individuals who have helped bring these projects to life, including the shíshálh Nation, Squamish Nation, and Sts’ailes Nations, Wesgroup Properties, Bosa Properties, Anthem Properties Group, West Fraser Developments, and Empacta Development. The guidance and advocacy contributions of community leaders, like Chief Lenora Joe and Bob Sokol, are also essential to this work.
What This Means for Renewal
Recognition at the IPSS Showcase demonstrates that reconciliation cannot be symbolic; it must be practical, measurable, and cultivated through long-term commitment.
For Renewal Development, this award strengthens our commitment to scaling circular housing solutions that support Indigenous communities through lasting infrastructure.
