Sts'Ailes:
Four Renewal Homes

The Sts'Ailes Nation sought affordable climate responsible solutions to help address their critical housing shortage needs.

Renewal Development, working with the Nation's Leadership, and our moving company partner Nickel Bros identified four good homes in Coquitlam, BC to rescue, relocate and repurpose.

The Journey begins June 2024.

Project Name

West Fraser Development LTD. acquired four (4) single family homes (built in 2016) with the intention of clearing them to make space for higher density development.

Project Name

Instead of being demolished the four homes (top main levels only) are being rescued, relocated and repurposed as affordable, low-carbon rental housing for Sts’ailes Nation members in Agassiz.

Project Name

May 2024 Renewal Development salvaged the (lower) ground floor cabinets, appliances, windows, etc. These products and materials will be transported to Sts'ailes and used to re-build the lower levels.

Project Name

June Nickel Bros came on site to begin lifting the homes. This involves sliding high strength steal beams under the floor joists of the top levels. Synchronized jacks are used to lift.

Project Name

The Journey will take place in two segments. The first two homes will make their way through the streets of Coquitlam overnight late June. The last two will be moved overnight mid July.

Project Name

The homes will make their way to the Fraser River. From there they will travel up towards Harrison Lake. They will be offloaded, delivered and then repurposed by Renewal and local contractors.
